Rafal Rogusz

Principal Solicitor & Founder

Rafal is the Principal Solicitor and founding partner of Benefit Legal Lawyers, which was founded in September 2015.

Rafal commenced his career as a lawyer in Poland after graduating with a master’s degree in international public law in 2009.

In Australia, Rafal graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Technology in Sydney. Rafal was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in 2013 and employed as a litigation lawyer in other market-leading law firms servicing the Sydney community before establishing Benefit Legal Lawyers. Rafal has acted for clients across the full range of personal injury law types as well as family disputes, commercial litigation and estate and wills disputes.

Rafal is highly recommended and complimented by clients for his high academic merit and his ability to work efficiently in their often complex and challenging matters.

Rafal is admitted in the Supreme Court of NSW and is a member of the NSW Law Society and City of Sydney Law Society.
Rafal’s desire has always been to share his passion in understanding your needs and to put his best efforts in ensuring that you obtain the best possible outcome in your matter.

Rafal is also a Public Notary.

Rafal is fluent in Polish and speaks Spanish.

Andrew Corbett

Chief Operating Officer

Prior to joining Benefit Legal Andrew enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 30 years within Financial Services which included holding Senior Executive positions within life & general insurance and superannuation organisations, as well as enjoying success within professional services and consulting.

The common thread that has contributed to Andrew’s success is his passion for creating highly engaged work cultures, developing people and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service.

He leads our human resources, strategy, operations and marketing functions.

Andrew is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Joseph Dinh

Solicitor & Practice Lead

Joseph is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia.

Prior to joining Benefit Legal, Joseph had a combined 10 years’ experience working for GIO Workers Compensation (Agent for I-Care) and leading corporate firms providing strategic liability advice to employers and insurers. He has dealt with a range of clients from small businesses to large corporations and media networks in Australia. Joseph uses his experience and expertise to strategically settle claims as efficiently as possible.

At Benefit Legal, Joseph handles insurance litigation, workers compensation, motor accident claims and disability insurance including Total & Permanent Disablement (TPD) claims.

Joseph is a member of the City of Sydney Lawyers Society and NSW Law Society.

With an extensive record of community and charity work across Australia, in 2009 the Federal Vietnamese Community in Australia awarded him “Australian Vietnamese of the Year”. He was also nominated the Bankstown Local Government Australia Day Award for Citizen of the Year 2009.

On weekends, Joseph enjoys being involved in the wedding industry as an Authorised Civil Celebrant and reception Event-Host.

Joseph speaks fluent Vietnamese.

Samantha Curro

Solicitor & Practice Lead

Samantha has worked in the legal industry since 2000. Since being admitted as a solicitor in 2008, she has practiced in a variety of legal areas which has provided her with a strong understanding of the law and ability to assist clients with excellent advice.

She has extensive personal injury legal knowledge, including motor vehicle accident, workers compensation, public liability, medical negligence and superannuation/ Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) claims. She has strong negotiation and mediation skills with a keen attention to detail.

Her strong track record of successfully dealing with complex and difficult claims involving major injuries, has seen her achieve significant outcomes while representing clients in both the District and Supreme Courts.

Rest assured, Samantha will deal with your matter promptly, efficiently and with strong communication throughout.

Samantha has completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. She is also a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.

Dominika Walkowiak

Solicitor & Practice Lead

Dominika completed the Diploma in Law course at the University of Sydney and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in December 2019.

She began her legal career in Poland, graduating from Adam Mickiewicz University with a degree in Management and Marketing in 2011 and a Master of Laws in 2013.

She has been working in the personal injury field since 2015. Having worked on many complex personal injury matters, Dominika has successfully resolved numerous compensation claims achieving multimillion dollar settlements for her clients.

Her practice focuses on public liability, medical negligence, work injury damages, motor vehicle accident claims (NSW and QLD), TPD, and workers compensation. She also has experience in commercial litigation, family provision claims, succession law, family law, and migration matters. Dominika’s extensive litigation experience – across both the District Court and Supreme Court – enables her to deliver strong outcomes. She has worked on many cases with complex legal and factual issues, involving multiple parties and severely injured clients.

Known for her empathy, determination, and professionalism, Dominika is deeply committed to achieving the best possible results for her clients. She takes pride in her work ethic and in building trusted relationships with those she represents.

Outside of law, Dominika has a passion for handball. She plays for the University of Sydney and represents Australia at the national level.

She is fluent in Polish and speaks basic Serbian.

Sarah Khalaf

Solicitor

Sarah is a dedicated Solicitor who was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in June 2025 after completing her Bachelor of Laws in 2024.

She is passionate about the law and committed to delivering justice for her clients. Her strong sense of empathy and unwavering professionalism drive her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those she represents.

Sarah has experience representing clients in both NSW and the ACT, across a wide range of personal injury matters including motor vehicle accidents, public liability, workers compensation, work injury damages, and superannuation claims. She approaches each case with care, determination, and a client-focused mindset, ensuring that every matter is handled with diligence and integrity.

She is known for her thoughtful approach to complex legal issues, always working to ensure that her clients feel supported, heard, and informed throughout the process. Clients value Sarah’s approachable nature and her ability to build genuine, trusting relationships. She prides herself on being reliable, accessible, and results-driven, always striving to achieve the best possible outcome.

Sarah is able to converse at a basic level in Arabic.

Garrick Wong

Solicitor

Garrick is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, with a double degree in Law and Commerce.

He has completed his Practical Legal Training (PLT) and was admitted as a lawyer in February 2024.

Garrick has a keen interest in the law operating and the ways we can deliver justice to all our clients.

He has assisted our solicitors with public liability matters in both the District and Supreme Courts, motor vehicle accident matters, total and permanent disablement (TPD), workers’ compensation and work injury damages claims.

He is dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for clients and communicating with empathy and compassion.

Garrick is fluent in Cantonese and speaks basic Mandarin.

Soraya Abawi

Law Graduate

Soraya is a Law graduate currently completing her studies at the College of Law. She holds a double degree in Law and Commerce (majoring in Marketing) from the Australian Catholic University and will graduate in early 2026. Soraya is due to be admitted as a Solicitor in June 2026.

She joined the firm in May 2024 and assists clients with Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims. Soraya is passionate about the law and driven by a desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Her combined background in law and business gives her a strong understanding of both legal and commercial perspectives, allowing her to approach matters with strategic thinking and practical insight.

She is known for her empathetic and approachable nature, taking the time to ensure clients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout their legal journey. Soraya values clear communication and professionalism and strives to achieve the best possible outcomes in every case she works on.

Soraya can converse at a basic level in Dari and Persian.

Lily Unwin

Client & Support Services Coordinator

Lily is the Client and Support Services Coordinator at Benefit Legal Lawyers. In her role, she supports the team with client services and helps ensure matters are directed to the team member best placed to assist.

Lily is passionate about delivering a high standard of client service and has over five years’ experience working in customer service roles, including a number of volunteer positions.

She is currently completing a Diploma of Library and Information Services and a Diploma of Family History.

With a keen interest in research, Lily enjoys genealogical research in her spare time and volunteers at a medical museum in Sydney.

Melika Karim

Client Engagement Specialist

Melika has completed a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology Sydney.

She has a broad understanding of personal injury law, including motor vehicle accident claims, workers’ compensation, public liability, medical negligence, TPD and superannuation claims.

In her role as Client Engagement Specialist, Melika is passionate about client experience and wellbeing.

She is committed to ensuring every client has a positive and supportive engagement with Benefit Legal Lawyers, reflecting the firm’s People First. Always. Philosophy.

Melika also speaks conversational Farsi.
